ZILZIE CHARDONNAY 2005
Karadoc, VicOn a dollar per litre vs quality scale, little comes close to the Zilzie wines, as they extend beyond the value ‘high water mark’.How do they do it? Economies of scale - Zilizie are one of Fosters biggest independant grape growers, producing serious volumes from almost 1500 acres of vineyards. As a result, the Forbes family (Behind the Zilzie label) can afford to divert a small amount of their huge production into their own label and pump it out seriously cheap.Which brings us to this wine - a medium bodied Chardonnay, with a big mouthful of golden flavour. The nose is peachy, gilded with vanilla oak, which carries right through to the fruit driven palate. Overall, its a stellar golden Chardonnay, with smart packaging, fresh, clear Chardonnay characters & a very smart price.
