DEVILS LAIR FIFTH LEG RED 2005

Margaret River, WA)’A delicious young and early-drinking red packed with genuinely ripe but not overcooked flavours of dark berries, cherries and plums. Its bouquet has a floral aspect, with undertones of dark chocolate/cedar oak and nuances of dried herbs. Medium to full in weight, its fruit-driven palate is framed by very fine, dusty tannins. It finishes long and lingering with fresh dark fruit and lively acidity. (Margaret River, retail, approx., 90 points, drink 2007-2010)’ Jeremy Oliver’A blend of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot with a dog playing cricket with one of the legs from the Devils Lair label. I just realised. Quite funny really.Very intense smelling wine with blueberry, vanilla, spice, sweet black licorice and blonde tobacco. On the palate, again, plenty of juicy blue and red fruit, spice, vanilla and tobacco with chalky fine tannins and clean fresh acid. Finishes dry with flavours of licorice root and spice. Lets not muck about, bistro or no bistro, pizza loving 30 something friends or pizza loving 20 something friends, it does not matter. This is an excellent wine and it delivers plenty at the price. If a bottle turned up at dinner my reaction on tasting a glass would be - ‘yeah, this is good, say when………………………………………………………..when!’Gary Walsh, Winorama
