DEVILS LAIR FIFTH LEG WHITE 2006

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

(Margaret River, WA)Our selectors have gone all out, combining the straight drive of Sauvignon Blanc, the great length of Semillon and the confident appeal of Chardonnay. Matured ion stainless steel to retain varietal purity, the dog thinks this is the perfect all rounder (and he is rarely caught out). The palate is mouth filling with fresh and lively flavours - crisp, full of life(just keep thinking of a Margaret River beach….), and verve. Citrus and guava fruits shine here, with nice mid palate textures. This wine is on in style…Sunshine in a glass and cheaper than a trip to Margaret River.Drink with fish and chips (proper ones though), calamari, antipasto, friends, or just drink it. Fithleg.com.au’I bought a bottle of this on holidays from one of those ghastly bottle shops where there is really nothing interesting to drink. This looked like the pick of the bunch (and one of the most expensive) and so it was. A very good holiday white… Oh this is a blend of sauvignon, semillon and chardonnay. Grassy punchy aromas of passionfruit, citrus, capsicum and tropical fruit. On the palate light and crisp with citrus, passionfruit, melon and spicy capsicum flavours. It has a bit of weight and softness too (probably from the chardonnay) and finishes with spicy sour gooseberry flavours. Good acid balance. A clean and refreshing classic white blend. Very enjoyable. 89/100 Gary Walsh, Winorama
