ANDREW HARRIS HARVEST ROAD SEMILLON CHARDONNAY 2005

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Mudgee, NSWOne of the larger producers out of Mudgee, Andrew harris has had some true highlights with his very enjoyable range of wines (particularly the awesome Shiraz) but the wines have ultimately lacked the recognition they deserve. The Harvest Road range is pitched as an early drinking style, with a range of fruit forward styles that stand out as great everyday drinkers with a fair injection of Mudgee style. Unsurprisingly, Mudgee shares the Hunter Valleys ability to grow good quality Semillon, in this case married to some medium bodied chardonnay fruit. Drink this early drinking, upfront fruit style with a suitably fresh, BBQ Red Morwong.

DE BORTOLI ‘SACRED HILL ‘SEMILLON CHARDONNAY 2004

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

1 Bronze medalRiverina, NSWBearing testament to the quality of the fruit that De Bortoli can obtain from their growers, this Semillon Chardonnay blend consists of mature Semillon with ripe Chardonnay combined with soft oak treatment producing a lovely rich dry length. The Semillon component of the wine provides some lively citrus flavours whilst the Chardonnay brings the melon, peach and tropical characteristics of the wine - the blending has been crafted very very well to produce a very good dry white wine. An excellent quaffing wine. Don’t be a wine snob - try this - you will not be disappointed.

Various crisp and medium bodied citrussy white with simple juicy lime and mango fruit flavours. This style of refreshing white is such an easy wine to like, admittedly its a little unobtrusive, but that just makes it a very pleasant food wine. This is a good quality, every day drinking white.
