LONG FLAT ADELAIDE HILLS SAUVIGNON BLANC 2005

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Adelaide Hills, SAFive years ago, this wine would never have happened. Indeed, even now this wine is an absolute rarity - but its happening. A wine that sneaks under the mark but blatantly shows off with the sort of bright, snappy & clearly Savvy fruit flavours that should really (and usually do) weigh in for a bottle.Make no mistakes, Cheviot Bridge (the winery behind the Long Flat Regional range) are out to prove a point. With this wine, they have taken juice that should be destined for a premium, glossy packaged Savvy with a prestigious reputation & pricetag. Yet this is sandwiched in a plainly packaged, mystery white for half the price.Forget the label & this wine is simply the best value Adelaide Hills Sauv on the market. Ever.

YALUMBA ‘OXFORD LANDING’ SAUVIGNON BLANC 2006

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Murray River, SAA nice simple everyday drinking Sauvignon Blanc that comes at an affordable price. This wine is undervalued for the quality it produces. Lovely pale yellow in colour, the aromas are fresh, upfront and zippy tropical fruit characters such as passionfruit, guava and lychee. A fair amount of natural acidity to blend in with the full tropical fruit flavours on the palate. Well rounded rather than overly tart. Drink with char grilled octopus… A bargain wine
