TYRRELLS MOON MOUNTAIN CHARDONNAY 2006

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Region - Hunter, NSWA full flavoured style of Chardonnay, yet retaining some dry minerality, the effect is fresh & crisp, yet with the involving ripeness of Hunter Chardy. Will improve with medium term cellaring.“Ripe stone fruit aromas on the nose allied to complex barrel-ferment nuances. A lovely interplay of crisp fruit flavours, toasty wood and buttery malolactic accents on the palate.” Winestate Magazine

(Limestone Coast, SA)An unwooded style of Chardonnay that is sourced from the premium Padthaway area (classed as part of the Limestone Coast region).Untouched by oak, this shows the creamy mouthfeel that one would expect from some yeast lees development - lengthening the dry, peachy palate and injecting some roundness into the whole wine.

ZILZIE CHARDONNAY 2005

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Karadoc, VicOn a dollar per litre vs quality scale, little comes close to the Zilzie wines, as they extend beyond the value ‘high water mark’.How do they do it? Economies of scale - Zilizie are one of Fosters biggest independant grape growers, producing serious volumes from almost 1500 acres of vineyards. As a result, the Forbes family (Behind the Zilzie label) can afford to divert a small amount of their huge production into their own label and pump it out seriously cheap.Which brings us to this wine - a medium bodied Chardonnay, with a big mouthful of golden flavour. The nose is peachy, gilded with vanilla oak, which carries right through to the fruit driven palate. Overall, its a stellar golden Chardonnay, with smart packaging, fresh, clear Chardonnay characters & a very smart price.
