A Commercial Quaffer. Crimson colour with crimson hue. Medium body. The nose exhibits stewed fruit and spice, followed by a hint of tea leaf and a vegetal endnote. The palate reflects the nose, with vegetal tea leaf flavours, followed by a touch of plum and spice. Fine dry tannins. Vegetal tea leaf aftertaste.

LONG FLAT MERLOT 2004
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008
(Various) The first of the line under its new owners (Cheviot bridge) the Long Flat Merlot is lifted up a notch largely due to the strength of the vintage (2004). This is a soft and medium bodied wine with a slurpably round & fruit driven palate - Simple and rather drinkable dry red.

(Victoria)Best Merlot Trophy & Gold Hobart. Exceptional Merlot fruit for this vintage, the Patricia Merlot has not been released since 2000. Sourced from the superior Glenkara vineyard in the Pyrenees and a small parcel 6% from the Taylors vineyard at Beechworth, Patricia has spent 18 months in a combination of new and older French oak. A wine of unshakeably gelatinous flavours like cherry and berry ju-jubes, Patricia is supple with fruit intensity and tenderness, it’s soft palate and fine silky tannins, hit an immediate chord with Australian wine judges Pyrenees BeechworthA clever, elegant Merlot, with well defined Merlot varietal characters, this shows the flesh of modern Merlot, yet retains some herbal refinement. Good stuff.
