DE BORTOLI ‘NOBLE 1′ BOTRYTIS SEMILLON 2003

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

6 Trophies, 1 Top Gold, 9 Gold, 7 Silver and 8 Bronze medalsRiverina, NSW’De Bortoli’s Noble One is a dessert wine that consistently achieves high ratings. The 2003 version is lighter in colour than the previous vintage but is just as luscious. Another beautifully made wine, the acidity that follows the botrytised citrus and apricots on the palate leaves the mouth tingling. If you haven’t tried a botrytis wine, this is the place to start’ - Jeff Gordon, Melbourne Times, Wednesday 24 August 2005

SEPPELT BOTRYTIS GEWURZTRAMINER 1998 (375ml)

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

This wine was made from late-picked Traminer, grown in the hills near Eden Valley. Harvested in May at maximum maturity, this dessert style of wine has great intensity of flavour and the potential to age gracefully for many years. The bouquet exhibits an array of raisin and orange peel aromas complexed with quince and dried mango overtones. A hint of rose oil and marmalade also add to the sumptuous bouquet. The palate shows an initial explosion of muscat and apricot flavours, followed by a delightful luscious and slippery middle palate. Ripe quince and marmalade add to the richness and almost bittersweet flavours. The oily richness however is balanced with a fresh, sorbet citrus acidity that prevents any cloying sweetness.
